United Malayan Land, Tradewinds majukan Pulai Jaya

Projek usaha sama antara United Malayan Land Bhd dengan Tradewinds Johor  Sdn Bhd di Bandar Pulai Jaya, Johor, dijangka menyumbang nilai pembangunan kasar sebanyak RM718 juta.

Dijadualkan siap dalam tempoh lima tahun, pembangunan yang dicadangkan itu juga akan melengkapkan dan meningkatkan sumbangan perbandaran dan pembangunan khusus yang sedia ada.

“Usaha kerajaan menjadikan Iskandar Malaysia sebagai hab pelaburan ideal di wilayah selatan, menawarkan peluang besar pertumbuhan dan perluasan,”kata Ketua Eksekutif United Malayan Land, Pee Tong Lim menerusi satu kenyataan baru-baru ini.


Scientex acquires Johline Realty for RM65mil

PETALING JAYA: Scientex Bhd, via wholly-owned subsidiary Scientex Quatari Sdn Bhd, has entered into a share sale agreement with Binaik Equity Bhd to acquire the entire issued and paid-up capital of Johline Realty Sdn Bhd for RM65.3mil cash.

Scientex is an industrial packaging and property developer company while Johline’s main activities are property development and investment holding.

Scientex told Bursa Malaysia yesterday the proposed acquisition was in line with the plan to expand its landbank in strategic locations for its future property development and expansion in Pasir Gudang, Kulai and Iskandar Malaysia in Johor.

Second theme park for Iskandar

GELANG PATAH: A second theme park, after Legoland, is coming up in Iskandar Malaysia.

It will be a 5,574 square metre indoor park meant to delight children below 12-years-old, said Johor Mentri Besar Datuk Abdul Ghani Othman.

He said the park would be in Puteri Harbour, a waterfront, mixed development project in Nusajaya.

It will be a joint-venture betweeen UEM Land Holdings Bhd and a foreign investor.

“Work will probably take place next year,” Ghani said at a Hari Raya open house organised by Taman Nusantara developer, Denia Development Sdn Bhd.

Ghani declined to divulge the investment cost or who the foreign investor was. The Star, however, learnt that the investor was WalMart Group, a US-based conglomerate.  


Road transport the focus at Iskandar

THE Iskandar Regional Development Authority (Irda) is focusing on road transport development, especially bus services, which forms part of the 32 development blueprints of the southern growth corridor.

Its chief executive officer Harun Johari said road transport was an important component of the integrated public transport master plan which covered air, rail and sea transport.

He said the bus service master plan would be ready by the end of the year.

"We will have buses of international standing as well as more bus routes and services. 

"This is to live up to the expectation of a metropolis.

"Currently, our bus service is not quite adequate and this is one area we are focusing on."


FDI inflow into Iskandar's first phase may top target

ISKANDAR Malaysia in Johor could surpass the US$13 billion (RM44 billion) foreign direct investment target for its first phase of development due to fresh investment interest from Hong Kong, South Korea and Europe.

To date, the economic zone has received 92 per cent, or US$11 billion, of the targeted amount in the first phase of investment.

"We have a lot of foreign developers and investors who have expressed surprise that we are not better known.

"They said Iskandar Malaysia is Asia's best-kept secrets. We can expect Iskandar Malaysia to have a new wave of investments next year," Iskandar Investment Bhd (IIB) managing director Arlida Ariff told Business Times in an interview.


PolymerLatex opens RM250m plant in Johor

Germany's PolymerLatex GmbH, a maker of synthetic rubber, has opened its largest and first plant outside of Europe in Pasir Gudang, Johor.
 
The RM250 million plant is expected to produce 100,000 tonnes of nitrile latex a year and to have estimated annual turnover of US$110 million (RM373 million).

PolymerLatex Sdn Bhd managing director and chief executive officer R. Vinny Bhalla said the company has transferred its overall operation from Germany to the new plant.

Synthetic latex is used to make anything from rubber gloves to tyres and carpets.

PolymerLatex's existing plants are in Germany, Italy and Finland. It closed a plant in Bromsgrove, Worcestershire, in the UK earlier this year.

(DUBAI) Malaysia's Iskandar Investment Berhad secured five billion dirhams (S$1.91 billion) investment for the country's Iskandar zone, and is accelerating work on what is planned to be the country's largest economic zone.

Chief executive Arlida Ariff told Reuters in an interview that there were no cancellations within the project and the total investment for Malaysia Iskandar zone since its launch in 2006 had reached US$13 billion, with around 15 per cent coming from Middle Eastern investors.

The investments are in areas of property, hospitality, retail, manufacturing and petrochemicals.
